Users
Create, edit, and deactivate firm user accounts.
Administration → Users lets administrators provision accounts, assign roles, manage password requirements, and control access to the firm.
Before you begin
Confirm that you have permission to manage users and know which role each person needs. A user's role determines access to resources such as cases, people, documents, billing, reports, and administration. If public registration is disabled, administrators must create every account here.
Create a user
Email is the user's sign-in ID. Users cannot change that sign-in email from My settings. Keep the address accurate before you save the account.
Find and edit users
Search the user list to find an account. Filter active users or filter by role when you need to review a group. Open a user to update roles, change account information, set the requirement to change the password at the next login, or deactivate access.
The Edit user modal displays the selected user's avatar when one is available. This can help you identify the correct account before changing its access.
A user's list record includes email confirmation and last-login information. Use these details when reviewing onboarding or inactive accounts.
Manage passwords
Administrators can set a random initial password and require the user to change it on the first login. Users change their own password from the user menu. When a user forgets a password, use the available password-management controls or direct the user to the password recovery flow.
Use a password change requirement when you provide a temporary password or when your firm's policy calls for a change after account creation. Avoid sending passwords in an unsecured message.
Deactivate access
Deactivate an account when a person leaves the firm or no longer needs CaseWizard access. Before deactivation, review the user's roles and audit activity, and confirm whether another user needs to own any ongoing administrative work. Deactivation controls access without requiring you to delete the user's historical activity.
Export users
Use the export action to download the user list to Excel when your permissions allow it. Export only for a defined administrative or reporting need, and handle the resulting file according to your firm's privacy practices.
Assign roles carefully. A role can grant access to sensitive resources, including people records and administrative functions.
