Use case header actions

The case header provides shortcuts for work that belongs to the current matter:

  • Add Timer starts billable time on the case.
  • Add Event creates a calendar entry linked to the case.
  • Add Note creates a dated note with an optional reminder.
  • Close Case changes the matter lifecycle.
  • Reopen Case returns a closed matter to an editable state.
Open Cases and select the matter you need.
Review the case summary and confirm that you are in the correct matter.
Choose the tab that contains the information or activity you need.
Use a header action to add time, an event, or a note when the work belongs to this case.
Save your changes, then return to the summary or another tab to continue.

Review the summary

The summary can show parties such as plaintiff, defendant, insurer, adjuster, opposing counsel, and judge. Depending on the case type and configuration, it can also show criminal-related roles such as prosecutor, officers, or bondsman. These role tiles provide context for the matter and may be display-only.

Use Contacts to locate people and companies before assigning them to a case. See Contacts for contact management.

Closed cases
