Document merge
Generate documents from templates with case merge fields.
Document Merge creates files from firm templates populated with case data. It requires document storage, an available template, and the permissions needed to use the case and storage location.
Merge a document
Validation checks which legacy merge fields are filled for the selected template and case. Missing fields are highlighted before generation so you can review the underlying case or party data. If a field is not available, confirm that the correct case is open and that the needed information has been entered in the appropriate case or contact record.
Templates and storage
Firm templates define the fields that CaseWizard uses during a merge. Administrators manage templates through the API or administrative workflows. Merge fields map to case and party data, so the output depends on the information available for the selected matter.
Document Merge and the Documents tab appear only when your firm selects SharePoint or Egnyte under Administration → Settings. The generated output is saved to the case document folder associated with the configured document provider.
Files are not migrated when your firm switches document providers. Confirm the active provider and the location of existing files before changing storage settings or running a merge.
Review the generated file
Open the saved output from the case's document folder and review it before sending or filing. Check names, dates, party information, and other populated fields. A successful merge does not replace an attorney's review of the generated document.
If the Document Merge tab or a template is missing, ask your firm administrator to confirm the configured provider, published template, and your permissions. Do not upload a duplicate template to a case as a workaround unless your firm's process requires it.
